Lionel Cliffe was a founding editor of the Review. He has worked on the politics of development for over thirty years.
Current focus is on the processes of change to pluralist democracy, related problems of ethnicity and nationalism, and the regional and international dimensions - specifically issues of food security, land tenure and conflict, and rural development policy and institutions. Main areas of interest are in southern Africa and the Horn.
