UN Economic Commission on Africa

Established in 1958, UNECA has 53 African nations as member states. Its responsibility is to carry out activities encouraging the growth of the economic and social sectors: analysing issues, promoting dialogue, building capacities in development management (training and advisory services), consensus-building the governmental process to articulate common positions on development.&break;In July 1995, ECA began internal reform, and declared it aim to focus on: Facilitating Economic and Social Policy Analysis; Ensuring Food Security and Sustainable Development; Strengthening Development Management; Harnessing Information for Development; and, Promoting Regional Cooperation and Integration.
