Established in 1958, UNECA has 53 African nations as member states. Its responsibility is to carry out activities encouraging the growth of the economic and social sectors: analysing issues, promoting dialogue, building capacities in development management (training and advisory services), consensus-building the governmental process to articulate common positions on development.&break;In July 1995, ECA began internal reform, and declared it aim to focus on: Facilitating Economic and Social Policy Analysis; Ensuring Food Security and Sustainable Development; Strengthening Development Management; Harnessing Information for Development; and, Promoting Regional Cooperation and Integration. | |
