Economic Community of West Africa States ECOWAS was founded in 1975. It is a regional group of 16 countries aiming to promote economic integration in "all fields of economic activity, particularly industry, transport, telecommunications, energy, agriculture, natural resources, commerce, monetary and financial questions, social and cultural matters".&break;It's peace monitoring group for Liberia is called ECOMOG.&break;Also known as CEDERO - Communaute Economique des Etats de L'afrique de L'ouest. |
