| | Carlos Cardoso, editor of the independent Maputo paper, Metical, was murdered in Maputo on Wednesday 22 November 2000. His funeral was held on Friday 24 November in Maputo. A fearless campaigner for freedom and a lifelong socialist who committed his life to the African revolution and the struggle against imperialism, Cardoso was gunned down in what appears to have been a planned and professional assassination. Here we reproduce two items published by AIM, the Mozambique news agency. The first is a report published the day after the killing.
