| Namibia's second general and presidential elections since independence in 1990 passed off peacefully, despite one violent confrontation between rival supporters in Swakopmund late in the campaign. Held over two days, on 30 November and 1 December, the turnout was high, with reports of people queueing even before polling stations opened. Several international observer missions monitored the elections, but they did not raise substantial questions of bias or impropriety. |
