Since the South African invasion in 1975 was repelled by Angolan and internatilist Cuban soldiers, Angola has suffered repeated aggressive acts from its racist southern neighbour. In May 1978, the infamous massacre at Kassinga was the South African's equivalent of My Lai. In 1979 there were innumerable reconnaissance flights over Angolan territory and many bombings of defenceless villages.
