In March 2007, the Secretary of the Media Review Network, Firoz Osman, asked whether South Africa was joining the 'war against terror' on behalf of 'Uncle Sam'. This question was posed after a series of incidents where South African terror suspects were 'fingered' by the United States (US) administration, and three individuals disappeared, raising fears that the South African authorities had co-operated with US intelligence to have them 'rendered' without due process.
