Mythology of Modern Law (Fitzpatrick)

It might appear strange to review a book which asserts that the universalist claims of modern law are no more than a contemporary myth in a journal devoted to Africa political economy. Peter Fitzpatrick's The Mythology of Modern Law is, however, of great relevance to our understanding of the history of colonialism and imperialism and the role that the law has played in the subjugation of the African continent.
