This briefing gives an account of the 4 years of Islamic fundamentalist rule in the Sudan since their seizure of power in June 1993. It poses the important question whether the Islamic fundamentalist programme offers a viable solution to the problems that are facing Sudan and the difficulties confronting the Islamicists now they are in power in having to provide practical solutions to concrete problems.
