Dependence/Opportunity: Change in Ahafo (Dunn/Robertson)
In some ways this piece of work is remarkable, at least for the French reader. Colonial and post-colonial political life both at the local and the regional level is presented with impressive detail and precision: this achievement reflects the sound methodological intentions of the authors, hoping simultaneously to transcend the focus of a single arena of study (the village: the state), interdisciplinary barriers (anthropology: political science) and historical pseudodichotomies (traditional: modern).
